PLEAS,” she wrote on paper with an outline of Santa’s face. Her mom, Ana Bramer, posted the image on Facebook, noting that, with the cancellation of family Thanksgiving plans, “my kids are heartbroken.” When Aaliyah wrote the message to Santa, she had just found out that her dad’s family had canceled a Thanksgiving get-together, due to the rising number of COVID cases. Those relatives were possibly not going to be able to get together for Christmas, either, so she really wanted to see them on Thanksgiving, Ana Bramer said.

Local vaccination plans will continue to take shape over the coming days, said Haley Bruhn, who is coordinating vaccination efforts for Grand Forks Public Health. Still, she said, it s difficult to know what the coming months will bring. I know that it s challenging to be in a fluid situation like this, she said. But I would expect that, at least for the next six months, we ll be doing vaccination for COVID on a large scale.
