Grand Forks officials might make permanent a policy change they put in place to help bars and restaurants stay afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Grand Forks Public Health to host free COVID-19 vaccine clinic at Home of Economy this week

Grand Forks Public Health and Home of Economy will co-host a pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic in the Home of Economy parking lot on Thursday, May 20.
The clinic will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be open to walk-in appointments. Attendees may also pre-register for an appointment at ndvax.org. COVID-19 vaccines are free and require no insurance information, and public health nurses will be on site to answer questions about the vaccines. Home of Economy is located at 1508 N. Washington St. in Grand Forks.
They have a pop-up vaccination clinic setup at Hugo’s on 32nd Avenue South.
It is in the former Alerus Bank Branch location.
The clinic is open Mondays from 10 to 2 and Thursdays from 2 to 6.
There is no cost to get the vaccine and no insurance is needed.
The Pfizer vaccine requires two doses.
Grand Forks panel gives preliminary OK to sewage plant upgrade plan
A unanimous vote on Monday, May 10, nudged forward a plan to revamp Grand Forks wastewater treatment plant. City staff want $45 million worth of upgrades by 2027 to give the facility more logistical room to handle a growing population and the strong sewage produced by industrial companies like JR Simplot and Red River Biorefinery. About a week after city staff first presented them with an outline of it, Grand Forks City Council members preliminarily agreed on a plan that would ratchet up residents’ wastewater bills to pay for new and better equipment at the city’s wastewater treatment plant.
