ITASCA COUNTY, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Nature Resources (DNR) says a state conservation officer has died in the line of duty.
The DNR says the officer was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Grand Rapids Monday morning. The name of the officer is not being released pending notification of family.
The DNR says it “has expressed its deepest condolences to the officer’s family for this tragic loss, and our staff are mourning the loss of one of our own.”

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. â Eight protestors were arrested after a Justice for George Floyd demonstration in downtown Grand Rapids Monday evening.
The charges are all misdemeanors, ranging from obstructing traffic to creating a public disturbance to refusing command of an officer, according to a spokesperson for Grand Rapids Police Department.
âThe police are fully supportive of everyoneâs right to peacefully assemble, to express their opinion, and we understand these are unprecedented times in these efforts, and again, weâre willing to work with any group, any organizer, to have their event be successful and particularly be safe, said Sgt. Dan Adams at a media briefing following the protest.
