For the first time since its 50-year inception, Festival of the Arts was forced to cancel last year but thankfully the event that brings the whole community together will be back next weekend.
Festival of the Arts is a FREE three-day event where people can enjoy food, music, family activities, and see all different types of art throughout downtown. This year s event is actually divided into two parts one scheduled for Friday, June 4 through Sunday, June 6th and the other part will take place this September.
So what will you see at the event next weekend? It s called Plein Air which means outdoors in French, and there will be Michigan artists doing live paintings of urban landscapes. Musicians will be stationed in the different social zones around Downtown. Unfortunately, there won t be the various amount of food booths that you re used to seeing. Blake Shelton And Friends Coming to Van Andel Arena
It s always exciting when we hear another superstar is coming to Grand Rapids and Van Andel Arena. And this announcement is no different. Country music superstar Blake Shelton will make his long-anticipated return to the road alongside his friends and heroes later this summer, and we re on the schedule.
The boot-stomping, hit-making, arena-selling entertainer will visit 16 cities for a 17-date run. “Friends and Heroes 2021” will welcome very special guest Lindsay Ell, with special appearances by Martina McBride, Tracy Byrd and Trace Adkins, and the tour will stop at Van Andel Arena here in Grand Rapids on September 30.
You May Want To Think Twice About Not Wearing a Mask
Yes the CDC did announce that if you are vaccinated you don t have to wear your mask but you may want to think twice about that.
Michigan is still one of the states that still has high numbers of cases. Saturday Governor Whitmer reeled back on wearing masks for those vaccinated but that same there were nearly 1300 more confirmed cases and almost 110 death s do to COVID-19 in the state.
Plus, infants to 14-year-old kids are still unvaccinated and we need to look out for their safety un most of the public has been vaccinated and we have established herd immunity.
