GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. â Grand Rapids police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Leonard Street and Ashland Avenue Saturday evening, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department.
Officers arrived to find multiple individuals that were presumed to be involved, GRPD explains. Weâre told the subjects then took off, refusing to stop.
Authorities say officers chased the subjects to a home in the area of Davis Avenue and 12th Street. Officers then created a perimeter and shut down the block for the neighborhoodâs safety, according to Sgt. Dan Adams.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. â One man has been hospitalized after being shot on Burton St SE and Kalamazoo Ave.
The man was shot around 7 p.m. and was transported to an area hospital with a non-life-threatening injury according to the Grand Rapids Police Department.

Urban League selected to lead Cure Violence in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. â The Grand Rapids Urban League has been selected by the Grand Rapids City Commission to lead the cityâs Cure Violence campaign, according to the City of Grand Rapids.
The Urban League will form a team and collaborate with Cure Violence Global to discern potential violent situations as part of an initial one-year agreement, the City explains.

On Thursday the 15th the Grand Rapids Police will be stationed at the Gerald R Ford Middle School from 4-7pm. Anyone who wishes to become a police officer can find out if they have what it takes to be a police officer by participating in the MCOLES (Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards) Physical Fitness Test.
This physical fitness test is required to be taken and passed by any police candidate seeking to be hired by the Grand Rapids Police Department.
