DMC Public Health Director talks COVID vaccines

Burlington, Ia- Des Moines County Public Health Director Christa Poggemiller provided an update on the county's COVID vaccination efforts Tuesday. At Tuesdays County Board of Supervisors meeting, Poggemiller states that the vaccination efforts in Des Moines County are on track. "We did just have a COVID vaccination clinic on Saturday at great River," Poggemiller said. "We were able to give over 500 vaccinations on Saturday." Poggemiller stated that they planned on giving more vaccinations but inclement weather put those plans on hold. Poggemiller also stated that those who were vaccinated on Saturday were already on Public Health's waiting list for vaccinations. She said that residents can call 319-208-5668 to add their names and information to the list. Des Moines County Public Health is expecting to receive more doses of the vaccine soon, which will be administered in the order of that waiting list.

DMC Health director says Vaccines should be available by summer

January 6, 2021 Burlington, Ia-  According to Des Moines County’s Public Health Director, COVID-19 vaccines should be available to those who want them by summer. Des Moines County Public Health director Christa Poggemiller told the Burlington Beacon Tuesday that both the Pfizer and Moderna Vaccine are being administered to the Phase 1A priority populations of Iowa, which is made up of healthcare providers, and staff and residents of long-term care facilities. “While right now, the vaccine is being made available to the priority populations, it is anticipated that by mid-2021, there should be enough vaccine for anyone who wants to receive it,” Poggemiller said.
