US$350 000 investment for engine maker
Fairbanks Morse, the maker of heavy-duty, medium-speed reciprocating engines, has opened its 8000-sq. ft. Mayport Service Center in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
The facility represents a US$350 000 investment in the community and places Fairbanks Morse in closer proximity to core customers such as Mayport Naval Station, Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, and other U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard installations.
Diesel fuel spill reported at Jacksonville naval base

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection reported a spill of marine diesel fuel Sunday at the Mayport Naval Station in Jacksonville.
According to the DEP, the spill began at about 8 a.m. at Foxtrot Wharf. The Mayport Port Operation is on the scene to clean the spill. The cause of the spill has not been released.
