FLINT, MI City Councilman Maurice Davis says someone is threatening his life, and Flint’s police chief and mayor say the threats are being investigated.
Speaking at the City Council meeting Monday, Feb. 8, Davis, a first-term councilman representing Flint’s 2nd Ward, said he’s received repeated phone calls from a man telling him in a calm voice that ”he’s going to take my life” and that Davis has only a few days to live.
Watercare is a very big company, it has a big impact on Auckland and New Zealand so I don t know why they didn t advocate a lot harder to get them in, Northern Amalgamated Workers Union secretary Maurice Davis says. If the Wiggles can get in, why can t these TBM operators get in.
Davis says with one council project competing with another, it s a bidding war for staff and there are big offers. It s rumours [how much more they re offering to pay], but it s something between $20,000 to $100,000.
But he says that is small change compared to the cost of the machine, which is worth tens of millions of dollars, sitting there without the workers to get it started.
FLINT, Mich. – The Flint City Council voted Tuesday to approve the city’s $20 million dollar share of a massive $641 million dollar settlement for injury claims stemming from the contaminated water crisis that first poisoned citizens in 2014.
The city council voted six to one on its 20–million dollar contribution to the city’s water troubles. The council had until December 31st to decide; only two members abstained.
Councilmen Maurice Davis said his decision was based on the needs of the city.
“It was to protect the city of flint, as well as the residents,” said Davis.
According to Davis the $20 million is an insurance policy to safeguard the city and protect it from any further litigation, as well as add to the pot of money that residents can claim. Davis said the community had been misinformed.
