Subscriber only An early morning raid on a family home in Woombye which uncovered meth, marijuana and cutting agents was triggered by a suspicious phone call, a court heard. At 5am on December 3, 2018, police raided Jake James Mcdonald s house after intercepting a phone call the then 28-year-old received about a drug deal. Mcdonald, his partner and their young daughter were in the main bedroom at the time, where police found a clip seal bag with 0.013g of methamphetamine in a cupboard. During the search police discovered 645g of a moist, off white substance used as a cutting agent, crown prosecutor Stipe Drinovac said.
A meth-addicted teenager who stabbed a 16-year-old girl in the face with a box cutter at a shopping centre has been sentenced to four years in jail.
Jai Dylan Clarke appeared in Maroochydore District Court on Monday charged with grevious bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm while armed and possession of a weapon in a public place.
He was sentenced to four years jail time with a non parole period of 14 months after pleading guilty to stabbing the young girl outside of Kawana Shoppingworld in Buddina on Queensland s Sunshine Coast on June 20.
Clarke told the court his biggest fear was being assaulted behind bars, and revealed he d been in protection for the 243 days he d already spent behind bars.
Crown prosecutor Alex Stark said Campbell was 41 at the time of the attack and the victim had been 40, and they had known each other for about 15 years. (Campbell) and his girlfriend had rented a room at the complainant s residence in Maroochydore about four nights before, Mr Stark said. On the night of the assault the victim had gone to the Alex Surf Club with Campbell s girlfriend. When they returned to the man s house, Campbell starting shouting at him, accusing him of having sex or attempting to have sex with his girlfriend, the court heard. The pair began arguing, pushing and shoving each other until and the victim yelled you re no longer welcome, get out of my house .
