Governor s Office of Innovation, UMaine, DHHS launch Maine Drug Data Hub   - UMaine News

A new online drug data hub for Maine with the potential to improve care, inform policy and ultimately save lives is the latest impactful tool in response to the state’s opioid epidemic.  Maine Drug Data Hub, designed to maximize the collection of actionable data and evaluate the impact of interventions, was established through a partnership among the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future, the Office of the Attorney General, the University of Maine, and several state agencies. A presentation on the new website at 11:30 a.m., May 7, as part of the Governor’s Opioid Response Summit webinar series, will introduce the benefits to clinicians, researchers, grant writers, policymakers and anyone interested in how the state is addressing the epidemic of substance use disorders. Registration is online.

Maine Policy Review now indexed in DOAJ - UMaine News

April 28, 2021 Outreach Maine Policy Review, published by the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center at the University of Maine, is now being indexed in The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).  DOAJ is a renowned community-driven, open-access online directory that has indexed more than 16,000 journals covering science, technology, medicine, social sciences, arts and humanities. The directory includes journals from 125 countries published in 80 different languages. According to its website, “DOAJ’s mission is to increase the visibility, accessibility, reputation, usage and impact of quality, peer-reviewed, open access scholarly research journals globally, regardless of discipline, geography or language.” MPR’s online articles have already been downloaded more than 55,000 times per year by readers from around the world. As overdoses rise in Lisbon, new police partnership offers a way out The new program with Tri-County Mental Health Services will allow crisis workers to accompany police to overdose calls and help people begin the recovery process. Share The Lisbon Town Council this week approved a partnership between the police department and Tri-County Mental Health Services to provide overdose prevention services through an outreach program. This will allow a crisis worker to ride with Lisbon police and respond to overdose calls alongside officer or follow up with the person who overdosed within 24 hours to help with referrals and counseling intervention.
