Marquette grad Fleming named as its new principal The Telegraph FacebookTwitterEmail ALTON Marquette Catholic High School has hired Dr. Barbara Fleming as principal for the 2021-2022 school year. Fleming will succeed Michael E. Slaughter who will retire June 30, 2021, after leading the co-educational, private school for the past 16 years. “As a graduate of Marquette myself, I am honored to be selected and look forward to getting started,” said Fleming. Fleming has served as the Director of Special Education for the Parkway School District for the past eight years. She also was the Director of Elementary Education, and Director of Federal Programs and Early Childhood Education for the Ferguson-Florissant School District. She also served as a principal for 10 years.

Stewart said that, after losing two previous jobs to plant closings more than 32 32 years ago, he began working at Graybar Electric and eventually became lead computer programmer. That same year he and his wifem Audrey, were married; shortly after they opened a small business, My Antique Store. He also attended night school and earned a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership. He recently retired from the private sector. He has participated in the Alton Exchange Club, Jaycees and the Sportsman Club and been a volunteer auctioneer for Marquette Catholic High School, the Boys and Girls Club, United Way and Rotary.

Gebelein, Gonzalez honored by Rotary The Telegraph FacebookTwitterEmail 5of5 ALTON Hallie Gebelein of Alton High School and Hunter Gonzalez of Marquette Catholic High School have been named Students of the Month of December 2020 by the Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club. Because of the Covid-19 cases in the area, the club has chosen to suspend meetings for a short time but is not suspending honoring deserving students from our high schools. Gebelein, the daughter of Brian and Paula Gebelein of Godfrey, is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars and has a grade point average of 4.259 on a 4.0 scale. She is currently making straight A’s again this semester. She has taken a number of honors, dual credit and AP classes.
