Journal Staff Writer MARQUETTE The Michigan Licensed Beverage Association said in a Tuesday Facebook post that it spoke with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s office and learned she will make an announcement today regarding the indoor dining ban related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The MLBA said the reopening likely would take place beginning Feb. 1 to give bar and restaurant owners time to work with their supply chains and figure out staffing. It said the announcement would likely include a limited capacity and curfew, and then possibilities for restaurants that take additional health measures to have a higher capacity limit. The COVID-19 order regarding indoor dining at bars and restaurants from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has been extended several times.

However, it said it is working to add more appointments to the website at www.mqthealth.org. It suggests people call 906-475-7847 to make an appointment, although it also said phones lines were being overwhelmed, and it requested people’s patience. Hundreds of website appointments were filled in seconds, according to the Marquette County Health Department’s Facebook page. “400 appointments were filled on the website in approximately 30 seconds. All appointments are filled on the website. However, we are working to add more appointments to the website. There are still appointments to be made over the phone line, (906-475-7847). At this time, we encourage you to use the phone line.” end quote. MCHD announced the first vaccine clinics for residents 65 and older late on Tuesday.

(Photo courtesy of Aspirus Health) MARQUETTE Public Health, Delta & Menominee Counties is temporarily pausing scheduling for COVID-19 vaccine clinics for individuals age 65 and older because of a statewide vaccine shortage. PHDM announced on Monday that it, as well as other local health department and health system partners, were notified that requests for vaccine in Michigan surpassed federal allocations for the upcoming week by more than 210,000 doses. It said vaccination partners in the state requested 270,000 doses while the total vaccine allocation to Michigan for the week was 50,000 doses.
