MILWAUKEE Marquette University Law School will host prominent members from the local policing and justice communities for a virtual conference, “Policing and Accountability A Community Conversation,” on Wednesday, March 10, at 12:15 p.m.
The conference will explore two key questions facing Wisconsin: what can be done to improve relations between law enforcement and the community and what the law provides about how deadly-force incidents are investigated and charged. The event will be presented in two parts.
Registration is available online for the event, which will be available on demand shortly after its completion.
“Policing and Accountability A Community Conversation” is presented by the Law School’s Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education and is part of the university’s Marquette Forum.

The bill is sponsored by several members of the Democratic Women’s Caucus, and was introduced this week to highlight March as Women’s History Month. The proposal’s introduction at this time on the calendar is noteworthy for another reason: March 15 would have been Ginsburg’s 88th birthday.
Caucus Chairwoman Rep. Lois Frankel (D-Florida), joined by Rep. Jackie Speier (D-California), Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Illinois), Rep. Brenda Lawrence (D-Michigan) and Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-Texas), introduced the legislation in the House of Representatives. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota) also introduced a similar bill within the Senate.
