MoU signed to promote quality medical research Peshawar April 12, 2021 MARDAN: The Bacha Khan Medical College (BKMC) on Friday inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Khyber Medical University (KMU) to encourage and promote quality research to develop new medicines and procedures to help cure ailments. KMU Vice-chancellor Dr Zia ul Haq and BKMC Dean Prof Dr Muhammad Fazil signed the MoU in a ceremony. The vice-chancellor and the dean inaugurated KMU’s sub-office of Research, Innovation and Commercializtion (ORIC) at the BKMC. The dean hoped that the BKMC would now serve as the regional hub for the Nowshera Medical College in Nowshera, Gajju Khan Medical College in Swabi and Saidu Sharif Medical College Swat for carrying out research and hosting training activities while the KMU would provide access to the faculty members of the BKMC to the varsity digital library and to software.

ANP activist Nawaz Mayar dies of Covid-19

Peshawar April 10, 2021 MARDAN: Prominent social worker and activist of Awami National Party (ANP) Mohammad Nawaz Khan of Mayar died due to Covid-19 at the Mardan Medical Complex (MMC). He was 66. The Covid-19 is rapidly spreading in Mardan district where 155 persons, mostly mal,e were admitted only in MMC in which 25 died in the last three days. These figures were provided by the officials of MMC. However, these do not include those who die in their homes or private hospitals. An official of MMC said that 208 beds have been arranged, adding, on Friday 21 new cases have been admitted. He further said that 25 patients have been treated while another 25 are in critical condition. Mohammad Nawaz Khanbecame a victim of the coronavirus a week ago and was admitted in MMC. He was secretary-general of ANP of Tapa Mayar and also remained president of the Union Council.

No oxygen shortage in KP hospitals, claims dept - Pakistan

The officials said 5,000 liters oxygen was also being added to the current storage capacity of 3,000 liters in Mardan Medical Complex and 1,000 liters to Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad’s 15,000 liters capacity. APP/File PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department has claimed that there is no shortage of medical oxygen in majorhospitals of the province and that it is working to improve oxygen supply during the third wave of coronavirus. The claim was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan here on Friday. The meeting was convened to review the capacity of the province’s healthcare system for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
