5 Spring Photography Shows
This month, Fotografiska New York launches a bold programme of photography exhibitions. The spring season introduces a variety of contemporary and 20th century approaches to the medium â from thought-provoking portraits by Martin Schoeller to Hassan Hajjaj’s brightly patterned fashion images.

VOGUE, The Arab Issue | Until 7 November
On a fashion shoot in Marrakech in the 1990s, Hassan Hajjaj was hit with a realisation. âAll these people were from Europe â stylists, photographers, fashion designers, makeup artists â using Morocco simply as a backdrop, which frustrated me but also made me think.â This is his response, a celebration of life in the Medina in which Moroccan creativity takes centre stage. Drawing on influences from handicrafts to hip hop, Hajjajâs unique portraits feature local people wearing traditional hijabs, caftans and other clothing with bold patterns and eye-popping colours.

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Robert Michael (“Bob”) Carroll announces his peaceful passing on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021 at the age of 91, at Hogarth Riverview Manor, in the loving arms of his family.
He is survived by his wife Helen (married 67 years); son, Danny (Laura) Carroll of Winnipeg, and their children Lindsay (Nathan Rochford), Hilary and Dora Carroll (Ryan Connor); daughter Norine Carroll and her children Daniel and Kathleen Johansen; daughter Alison Carroll (Paul Maydo) and her children Mackinley, Abbey and Sophie Steinhoff; and siblings Theresa Stolz of Thunder Bay; and Patricia Austin (George Newton) of Winnipeg.
