St. Martin Parish Issues No Wake Zone, Makes Sandbags Available A no-wake zone is now in effect for Lower St. Martin Parish, including the areas of Stephensville and Belle River. Parish President Chester Cedars declared the no-wake zone order Tuesday morning. That order will remain in effect until further notice. The parish is making sandbags available for residents in the upper and lower portions of the parish. Self-serve sandbags are available at the following locations: Stephensville Park, 3257 LA 70 South Barn, 1011 Capritto Forty Arpent Road Paul Angelle Park, 2458 Cecilia Senior High School Road Ruth Bridge Barn, 1035 Ruth Bridge Highway Clayton Boudreaux Memorial Park, 1028 Catahoula Highway

Lafayette heavy rainfall expected to continue after 6 inches on Monday

A flash flood watch remains in effect for Lafayette until at least 7 p.m. Thursday.  “It s not going to take a whole lot today for - in certain parts of the area - for us to see flash flooding to begin again,” Jones said. “We haven t had any reports of any flash flooding yet, but there is more rain on the way and the flash flood threat is going to exist for the entire area as we go through the day today.” In addition to the excessive rainfall, some areas could see the risk for the severe weather on Tuesday. Lake Charles has a marginal risk for severe weather, including tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail.
