NEW IBERIA, La. Hours after authorities announced a 10-year-old New Iberia girl was missing with an early morning Amber Alert that sounded on phones around the state, she was found by two sanitation workers, a New Iberia Police Department spokeswoman said.
Social media footage apparently shot by one of the workers shows police cruisers pull up and officers taking a man away from the scene. The car out in a field, off the road, matched the description of the car make and model from the Amber Alert.

A New Iberia woman was killed following an Thursday morning crash in St. Martin Parish.
Louisiana State Police say that at around 5:30 a.m., on February 4, 2021, Troopers began investigating a single-vehicle crash on Federal Highway 90 near Le Triomphe Parkway in St. Martin Parish.
Troopers say the crash took the life of 64-year-old Karlina F. Rosella of New Iberia.
An investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Rosella was driving west on US 90 when for unknown reasons, her vehicle ran off the roadway into the median. The vehicle struck a curb, went airborne and overturned.

A 60-year-old St. Martinville man is accused of sexual abuse of a juvenile, according to St. Martin Parish Sheriff Becket Breaux.
On December 14, 2020, deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff s Office received a report of alleged sexual abuse of a juvenile. An investigation into the allegations was initiated and at the culmination of the investigation, a warrant of arrest was obtained for Leonard James Lasseigne.
On February 2, 2021, following the execution of the warrant, Lasseigne was arrested on the following charges:

A Breaux Bridge man is facing charges after the St. Martin Parish Sheriff s Office said he sexually assaulted a woman, tried to shoot her and placed her the trunk of a car.
The man, later identified as 46-year-old Dennis Comeaux, tried to shoot a woman twice while he sexually assaulted her, but his gun misfired, sheriff s office spokesperson Capt. Ginny Higgins said in a release. The assault reportedly occurred at about 2 a.m. Wednesday on Pine Alley Drive in St. Martinville.
Breaux Bridge Rape, Attempted Murder Suspect Caught on I-10
46-year-old Dennis Joseph Comeaux of Breaux Bridge is now behind bars after allegedly raping and trying to kill a female in St. Martinville. Comeaux then allegedly tried to kidnap her but she was able to get away before he took her car out of the parish.
Captain Ginny Higgins with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff s Office says Comeaux was caught Thursday morning by Louisiana State Police while he was traveling westbound at mile marker 151 in West Baton Rouge Parish.
She says authorities got involved when deputies responded early Thursday morning to an alleged sexual assault that happened at Pine Alley Drive in St. Martinville. Comeaux was identified as the suspect. The victim told deputies Comeaux tried to shoot her twice during the alleged sexual assault, but the gun misfired.
