The situation has grown so dire in Los Angeles - a sprawling city with a population of nearly 4 million - that the National Guard has been called in to move bodies into storage at the LA County Department of the Medical Examiner-Coroner.

Dr. Fauci s comments came during an interview with CNN s State of the Union
The 80-year-old said the US is at a critical point with 200k new cases being reported each day and with 2,000 dying of the virus daily
Fauci said it s likely the US will experience a post-holidays surge in the virus, with 85 million people tipped to have traveled for the holiday season
Said he agrees with Joe Biden that the darkest days of the pandemic are ahead
Fauci said he feels fine after receiving his vaccine, but had a sore arm for a day
He also advised President Trump to get vaccinated but said it s his choice
California remains under statewide lockdown due to surge in number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations
Los Angeles County s top public health official said that patients are dying at rate of once every 10 minutes
Health inspectors handed out fines at restaurants and shopping malls to step up enforcement of guidelines
Hospital staff said they are forced to wheel patients into gift shops due to a lack of available room
Officials worry that gatherings during Christmas will fuel another surge that could be evident in a few weeks
