TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The Texas African American Museum in Tyler celebrated Martin Luther King Junior Day with the grand opening of its new location.
The museum is now in a vacant fire station the city of Tyler donated last fall.
Dr. Orenthia Mason was the keynote speaker at today’s event. She said she believes we’ve come a long way since Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s speech, but there is still work to be done.
CHICAGO (WLS) A new generation of activists in the Black Lives Matter movement have picked up Dr. Martin Luther King s mission for justice and equality, and are now carrying on his legacy.
Last summer millions of young people took to the streets across the country after the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. This past summer definitely made a lot of people put into perspective, kind of moving this very elitist form of, like, being an activist and organizer, and people kind of seeing that it s more attainable, said Alycia Kamil of GoodKidsMadCity.
