The Nigerian Army has buried a commanding officer, Major Bedan Ishaya and four other soldiers killed by suspected members of Boko Haram on February 14.
The soldiers were killed during an attack by the insurgents on a military base in the Marte Local Government Area of Borno state.

Ishaya was said to have led a reinforcement of soldiers from the 22 battalion to Marte to support dislodged troops when they were ambushed.

Boko Haram militants on Monday evening displaced security operatives and took control of the ancient town of Dikwa in Borno, northeast Nigeria.
Dikwa town is about 90km from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital and has experienced several attacks from the insurgents since the liberation of the town in 2016.
The town also hosts the military Super Camp 9 where the Army Chief visited last week and gave order for the retaking of Matte, which is about 20km away.
The attack on Dikwa came barely days after the military engaged the insurgents in a battle to retake Marte Local Government Area from the militants.

Nigerian Troops have successfully charged through Marte Local Government Area, LGA, of Borno State, killing scores of ISWAP/ Boko Haram terrorists who seized the area few days ago.
This came as heavy explosions and sound of gunshots late which yesterday engulfed parts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, reportedly claimed several lives with many others sustaining different degrees of injuries.
A Military Officer while confirming the successful operation said troop successfully and safely detonated series of IEDS laced along the routes and finally dominated the general area.

Heavy explosions and the sound of gunshots have engulfed some parts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The explosions which started at about 5:45 pm up to the time of filing in this report were heard around Fori general area near Giwa military barracks.

Sources said, armed insurgents were behind the attack attempting to infiltrate the city, as troops engaged them.
Maiduguri has been long without witnessing any Boko Haram invasion, even as the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru last Sunday while on Operational Visit to the state gave 48 hours ultimatum to troops to recapture Marte Local Government Area which is currently under the control of Boko Haram.
