Both Marshall and Ohio counties listed new COVID-19 deaths in their Thursday night reports. The one death the Marshall County Health Department reported was of an 83-year-old woman who was hospitalized at the time of her passing. The eight deaths reported by the Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department were part of the 168 who weren’t counted in December and January. These eight deaths were identified through state and local surveillance data and death certificate data matching, according to the department.
The Marshall County Health Department also reported six new confirmed positive and one new probable COVID-19 cases, bringing that county’s totals to 2,401 confirmed cases, 660 probable cases, two hospitalizations and 63 associated deaths.

Nursing students at Snead State Community College are helping to distribute COVID-19 vaccines to Marshall County residents, according to a news release from the college.
The school s Health Sciences Department was contacted by the Marshall County Health Department in February about assisting with the COVID vaccine clinic, and its volunteerism grew from there.
“(By the end of that week), we participated in four clinics at the Health Department,” said Health Sciences Interim Director Dr. Lisa Brock. “We have another one at the Health Department and one at Marshall Medical Center South this month.”
About 30 students assisted with the vaccine clinics; they averaged giving more than 300 vaccines per day.
