Investigation underway following toddler drowning in Big Wheeling Creek By May 6, 2021 - 12:06 pm LIMESTONE, W.Va. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is investigating what happened that caused a toddler to drown in the Big Wheeling Creek on Wednesday. Authorities said a 2-year old girl was reported missing around 5:30 p.m. First responders with Limestone EMS arrived on the scene and pulled the child from the creek that is nearby to a residence. Emergency crews began life-saving procedures but the child was pronounced dead at Wheeling Hospital a short time later. The sheriff’s department is interviewing family members. It’s initially believed to be an accident.

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. – Two South Bend teens have been arrested after one led police on a chase in Marshall County, Indiana State Police said. A trooper was able to initially stop a silver Nissan SUV south on US 31, near Veteran’s Parkway, just before 9 a.m. Thursday, the report said. The trooper determined that the Nissan was traveling at 100 mph, troopers said.

Contributing Writer Many questions have been raised with respect as to how can Sheriff Hoffman effectively perform the rigorous requirements of two full-time jobs. Marshall County residents deserve a full-time dedicated sheriff. Let’s revisit the timeline of events. Sheriff Hoffman was sworn into office as the Marshall County Sheriff on Jan. 4. The Polk County Supervisors approved the hiring of Hoffman on Feb. 9, with a start date of Feb. 13. The position Hoffman accepted with the Polk County Sheriff Department is one which would require an extensive background review. It is very reasonable and plausible to assume that Hoffman began the hiring process well before he was sworn in as the Marshall County Sheriff. It is very plausible and reasonable to assume that Hoffman knew that his qualifications made him a very qualified candidate for the Polk County Sheriff position. A driver and his passenger were taken into custody after the vehicle was involved in two pursuits with two different agencies on the same day, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department. On Monday at 11:30 a.m., a deputy located a vehicle in the area of US 31 and 9A road around 11:30 a.m. It was the same vehicle that was involved in a pursuit with Indiana State Police earlier, reports said. The driver failed to stop for deputies and a pursuit was initiated.
