An effort is underway to rename the MHS/Community Auditorium to the Marshalltown Performing Arts Center, as well as maintaining its status as a world-class venue. Bill Fitzgerald, project manager and former member of the MHS/Community Foundation, said good things are in the works for the auditorium.

The district started weekly COVID-19 case reports on Sept. 18, in which seven cases were confirmed.

The district started weekly COVID-19 case reports on Sept. 18, in which seven cases were confirmed. A report on the number of COVID-19 cases within the district is shared weekly on Fridays. Each report shares the total number of new, confirmed cases among students and staff members throughout the district since the time of the previous report.

Even though grades have fallen, the students are happy to be in the classroom. Marshalltown Community School District officials know COVID-19 is primarily spreading in the community, so having students in classrooms is not only safe for their health but important for their academic growth. While the academics might be struggling, the health of the students and their happiness has been stable. Students have already experienced the first two-week remote learning period before the Thanksgiving break in November. They returned to their classrooms on Dec. 1.
