U.S. is reopening states health insurance marketplaces for three months this spring, and local experts say the pandemic has made it more important than ever for uninsured
Chippewa Valley residents to consider buying health insurance.
The HealthCare.gov marketplace typically opens once a year in the fall, but President
Joe Biden issued a January executive order opening a special enrollment period from
Feb. 15 to May 15, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Experts from across healthcare have identified specific policy and regulatory recommendations to improve the nation s ability to prepare for and respond to future health crises. The recommendations are part of a new report released by the
Healthcare Leadership Council and
Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy and result from collaboration with more than 100 private-sector, nonprofit, and government organizations and stakeholders to assess the response to COVID-19 and the nation s existing disaster preparedness infrastructure.
The recommendations include some temporary steps taken to address the COVID-19 pandemic, which have proven beneficial and should be made permanent going forward, the experts say.
