Baras LGU places 84 houses under lockdown due to clustering of COVID-19 cases

(MANILA BULLETIN) Strict quarantine measures are in effect from Feb. 18 to March 3 in Ilaya Street in Bgy. San Juan due to the COVID-19 cases.  Under Resolution No. 03-2021, the Local Government Unit-Baras Task Force Against COVID-19 has imposed Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) on two houses in Ilaya Street and Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) on 82 houses “due to the emergence of new cases of individuals found positive for COVID-19.” The local government of Baras, in a Facebook post, said the clustering of cases of COVID-19 in Ilaya Street, with four confirmed cases since Feb. 12, has prompted the task force to classify the two houses as “Critical Zone” while the other 82 houses as”Containment Zone.” Bgy. San Juan has a total of five active cases as of Feb. 19.

PASIG CITY, Jan. 19 After experiencing one of the longest lockdowns necessary to capacitate the Philippine health system, the country needs to safely allow economic activities driven by the country’s young population, the country’s Chief Economist said. In the National Economic Recovery Forum attended by over 500 university and college students and organized by the Junior Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines, Acting Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Kendrick T. Chua said that the Philippines has a young population, as 40 percent are 20 years old and below, and it is their activities with their families that help spur growth in various sectors. However, with children not allowed to go out, the economy suffered from dampened demand.
