Hopkinton architecture firm hires assistant project manager Community Content Hopkinton-based Gorman Richardson Lewis Architects has hired Jorge Gomez as the firm’s architecture studio assistant project manager.  Gomez comes to GRLA with a breadth of architectural and interior design experience, having worked on multiple residential projects throughout Massachusetts and New York as well as commercial and healthcare projects. Gomez holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Boston Architectural College and a Master of Arts in Interior Architecture degree with a focus on Adaptive Reuse from the Rhode Island School of Design. He also served in the United States Marine Corps from 1999-2005 as a member of 2nd Battalion, 25th Marine Reserve unit and was called for duty as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2002.

Garvin-Garvey House renovation receives fourth state award Bluffton Today The town of Bluffton s rehabilitation of the Garvin-Garvey House was recognized last month with its fourth statewide award since the project s 2017 completion. The South Carolina chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIASC) awarded Charleston historic preservation firm Meadors Inc. a Citation Award for Adaptive Reuse and Preservation for the project at its annual award ceremony in November, the town said.  The town contracted Meadors Inc. and its architects and historic preservationists for research and the blueprint for the Garvey-Garvey House’s preservation and rehabilitation. Members of the AIASC award panel said, “The Garvin-Garvey House was on the verge of collapse. The rehabilitation represented an intensive and thorough investigation of the remnants to understand the original construction and its details.
