PESHAWAR: The police have busted the seven-member gang that robbed several of banks in the provincial capital and adjoining districts in the last five months, officials said on Tuesday. “The cops have recovered Rs22.8 million looted money from the held robbers. Raids are being conducted to arrest three other members of the ring,” said DIG Mardan Yasin Farooq told a press conference at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines here. Capital City Police Officer Abbas Ahsan and DIG Kohat Zafar Ali were also present on the occasion. The official said the robbers used to escape in rented vehicles wearing burqas to dodge the police after staging robberies.

Addressing a news conference at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines, Mardan regional police officer Yasin Farooq, Kohat RPO Zafar Ali and Peshawar’s city police chief Abbas Ahsan said the gang struck in different districts and took away large sums of money in heists.

PESHAWAR: With coronavirus claiming 36 more lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the health department has said it will establish anti-virus vaccination centres in 17 more districts within three days.
According to the department, eight vaccination centres will be set up in major hospitals, four in Category A hospitals, three in Category C hospitals and two in Category D hospitals.
“The director general (health services) has issued directives for the activation of vaccination centres within three days and speedy vaccination of citizens aged 50 years and above,” an official said.
IGP calls for sensitising cops about human rights

PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sanaullah Abbasi on Wednesday underlined the importance to sensitise cops about human rights particularly of child, women and marginalised segments of the society.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of a five-day training workshop for police officials about the Juvenile Justice Act and human rights held at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines here. The training was arranged by the Peshawar Police in collaboration with NGO Forum for Dignity Initiative.
In his welcome address, SSP Operations Yasir Afridi highlighted the aims and objectives of the workshop. CCPO Abbas Ahsan was also present on the occasion.
