Matfen Jean Conteh It’s been a quiet Easter Sunday, with meeting outdoors not made easy by the bitter wind, but I hope you were able to get together outside with someone you may not have been able to meet for a long time. Things are slowly getting back to normal, and one sign of that is that the churches in Stamfordham and Matfen are now open every day again, from 10 am to 4 pm. You are very welcome to pop in any time during those hours. It’s hoped that Ryal church will also be able to open again soon.
Chollerton Hugh Denholm I am sure that we are all p[eased that spring has arrived at last, bringing light evenings, new lambs, birdsong and spring flowers. Everyone will have noticed that for a third year we have a wonderful display of daffodils as one approaches both Barrasford and Gunnerton. After what has been a very trying year for everyone, there does seem to be light at the end of the tunnel. As a community we have supported one another very well and we are extremely grateful for the service that our village store has given as well as other local suppliers.

Matfen Jean Conteh Has your job been disrupted because of the lockdowns? Are you looking for work or facing the need to change jobs? If so, you can join a series of webinars organised by Community Action Northumberland (CAN). These Employability Webinars are suitable for anyone recently made redundant or who has been out of work for some time. They’re happening every Monday, starting at 10am, and cover a range of subjects such as coping with unemployment, preparing for interviews and so on. Find out more by emailing juliaplinston@ca-north.org.uk or phoning 07340 082571. The lockdowns have made many of us feel isolated and anxious, and the webinars are giving both emotional support and help with the practicalities of looking for a job.
