New vaccine trials enter last stage

Six more died of Covid-19 while 55 new cases of the novel coronavirus were reported in 24 hours on Wednesday, raising the tally of confirmed cases to 25,041 in the Rawalpindi district while six more lost their battle against the deadly virus.
The District Health Authority (DHA) informed that among the new cases, 12 were reported from Rawal Town, 18 from Potohar, 11 from Rawalpindi Cantt, three from Taxila two from Murree, four from Gujar Khan, two from Islamabad and one each from Kahuta, Kallar Syedan, and Kotli Sattian.
Anti-polio campaign planned for June

The anti-polio drive by Lodhran administration will commence on June 7 and continue till June 11. During the five-day campaign, as many as 321,564 children under the age of five will be vaccinated against the poliovirus.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Deputy Commissioner Imran Qureshi said that children would be inoculated for the first three days of anti-polio campaign while after two days, the children who had not been vaccinated against polio will be searched and vaccinated.
This decision was taken in a meeting held to review the arrangements for the special national anti-polio campaign.

After blatant violations of precautionary guidelines during Eid shopping, the coronavirus infection rate is once again spiraling in Rawalpindi as it was recorded around 11.10 per cent on Sunday. As many as 115 cases were reported in the district while two people succumbed to the virus in a span of 24 hours, officials informed.
Health experts are citing flouting of anti-Covid standard operating procedures (SOPs), especially since the last Ashra of Ramazan started, as the reason for this spike. District Health Authority (DHA) officials said about 154,227 people have been vaccinated so far in the district.
