ISLAMABAD: After the capital city saw a continuous decline in Covid-19 positivity cases in the last 10 weeks, the ratio has started to rise again, with experts fearing that the virus could bounce back.
Moreover, 71 cases were reported on Sunday with the daily positivity rate recorded at 3.81pc.
The weekly positivity rate is considered more authentic as the number of cases can increase or decrease on a certain day.
According to documents available with
Dawn, the weekly (Monday to Sunday) positivity rate remained over 10pc in April but then saw a downward trend. In the week that ended on May 2, the infection ratio was 9.24pc as 2,911 cases were reported during this period. However, it gradually declined to 2.46pc in the last week of May when 804 patients were detected.

ISLAMABAD: On the intervention of Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS) has decided to pay the Covid-19 health risk allowance to the frontline health workers.
However, the healthcare workers complained that the ministry wanted to pay the allowance to selected employees despite the fact that all healthcare workers faced the risk of contracting the virus.
Last year, the health risk allowance was paid to a majority of healthcare workers but there were complaints that some of them were paid more compared to others.

ISLAMABAD: With lockdown restrictions easing, a slight increase in the Covid-19 positivity ratio was seen in the capital as it reached 3.7pc on Friday from 1.9pc reported on Thursday. As many as 37 people recovered from the disease.
Officials of the capital administration said 73 new cases emerged against the 1,956 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. On Thursday, 54 people were found infected out of the 2,808 tests.
As many as 46 of the new cases were male and 27 were female, the officials said, adding 17 cases were reported in the age group of 20-29 followed by 16 in 30-39, nine in 0-9, seven each in 40-49, 50-59, six in 10-19, five in 60-69, 70-79 and one in 80 and above.
Two days ago about 3,000 people smashed the glass doors of the vaccination centre and stormed inside creating panic among members of staff at the centre. They were protesting against the shortage of Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines.
Officials of the capital administration said on both days, the police could not disperse the crowd. Like June 28, staff at the centre suspended their work on Wednesday due to the hostile situation and remained captive for hours, the officials said.

The crowed was annoyed when staff informed it about unavailability of Pfizer and AstraZeneca. The crowd later gathered at 9th Avenue, resulting in closure of the avenue from Shaheen Chowk to F-8 Exchange Chowk.
