A day after the Kalamassery police launched an anti-drug campaign in the wake of the brutal assault of a youngster by his friends at a colony, three youths were arrested with 4.2 kg of ganja and five LSD stamps on Thursday evening.
The arrested are Sumesh, 26, of Vadakkanchery, Balu, 21, of Thrissur, and Vishnu, 22, of Fort Kochi. They were nabbed from Moolepadam in Kalamassery.
The arrests were made in a joint operation by the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force and the Kalamassery police. They have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

The Kochi City police on Monday arrested two youngsters allegedly with 2.20 grams of the premium drug MDMA from near Oberon Mall on Friday.
The arrested are Sharon, 24, of Edappally and John Joseph, 25, of Ponekkara. They allegedly procured the drug from Bengaluru at a low price through middlemen and sold it among youngsters at Vyttila and Palarivattom.
The seizure was made following a tip-off received by District Police Chief (Kochi City) Nagaraju C.H..

Efforts to prevent year-end rave parties, smuggling of drugs and liquor The District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF) and the striking squad of the Excise Department will soon strengthen their surveillance in remote tourism destinations as part of efforts to curb drug-induced revelry and year-end rave parties. Plainclothesmen of both squads are on the field to prevent attempts to smuggle narcotic drugs and Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) from other States.
Checking of inter-State goods carriers is on in full swing near the district borders and highways. The Thamarassery Ghat Road will be monitored by a special police team in the wake of recent seizures of huge quantities of ganja from trucks. The squad is also likely to monitor closed circuit television cameras on the route.
