4 Years, 11 Walkouts – The Minority’s aggressive record in the 7th Parliament
The 7th Parliament which’s proceedings I’ve reported on eagerly from its birth on the dawn of 7th January 2017 till date, will go down in history as one of the most contentious in Ghana’s history.
By every measure, what we have witnessed over the last 4 years has been an aggressive minority that has taken advantage of every single opportunity it can lay hands on to push government beyond its thick walls of convenience in parliament.
There is a lot that this Minority can claim credit for. Including helping stop the controversial Agyapa Royalties deal and pulling breaks on the new AMERI power deal that Boakye Agyarko took to parliament for approval in July 2018.
Malaria tops OPD attendance in Akuapem North
The Akuapem North Municipality has recorded a total of 10,021 cases of malaria between January and October this year, topping the list of all diseases reported at the Out-Patients Department (OPD) of health facilities in the area.
The figure comprised 2,531 reported cases of under-five malaria and 156 cases of malaria in pregnancy, even though it indicates a slight decrease in the recorded cases of malaria in the previous year, malaria remained the number one cause of OPD attendance in the municipality.
This was made known at a stakeholders dialogue on the 0.5 District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) for malaria-related activities, under the People for Health Project being implemented by a consortium including Send Ghana, Pensplusbytes, and the Ghana News Agency, at Akropong.

SOME Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) have raised concerns over the delay in accessing funds allocated to them through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).
The PwDs who engaged in town hall meetings in Accra, Kumasi and Tamale established that most of them had not received any funds from the DACF since 2019 due to the opaque style of disbursement employed for such distributions.
They insisted that the government must adopt the method of disbursement used in the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme to help ensure timely distribution of funds to vulnerable groups.
Local assemblies must show resolve to part with malaria funds 18th Dec 2020 | Source: GNA
Mr Amin Abdul Muntalib, Health Director for the Krachi East Municipality, has called on local assemblies to commit to the fight against malaria by prioritising the release of allocated funds.
He said although the assembly responded to requests for malaria support, he was unsure whether or not it was being drawn from the malaria allocation.
Mr Muntalib, who made the call at a policy meeting on malaria held at Dambai, said there was poor coordination towards managing the 0.5 percent of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) set aside for malaria programming.

The Ningo-Prampram District Assembly (NIPDA) has disbursed over GHS123,000 from its share of the District Assembly Common Fund to 54 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).
The Assembly used over GHS 99,000 to procure items for 44 of the beneficiaries while over GHs 24,000 was for the payment of school and medical bills for 10 beneficiaries.
The items include 21 deep freezers, 100 bags of charcoal, 200 bags of cement, two knitting machines, 30 packs of baby diapers, one cassava grinding machine, one pepper grinding machine, laptop, and two commode wheelchairs among others.
Mr Jonathan Teye Doku, Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive, presenting the items, said the disbursement was the fourth in the year, explaining that because PWDs in the area were many, they were being supported in batches.
