2,561 cases resolved in Lok Adalat Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA A total of 2,561 cases pending in various courts in the district were resolved through alternative dispute redressal mechanism during the national Lok Adalat held on Saturday. A total of 4,610 cases were taken for consideration for the Lok Adalat session and by resolving 2,561 cases a total of ₹8.18 crore were settled. Lok Adalat were held in by the District Legal Services Authority in Srivilliputtur court , and at Virudhunagar, Aruppukottai, Tiruchuli, Sivakasi, Sattur by the respective Taluk Legal Services Authority. District Principal Judge and DLSA Chairperson, A. Muthusaratha, inaugurated the Lok Adalat here. She said that mutually resolving disputes through alternative disputes redressal mechanism will help both the parties.

Updated: Share Article AAA The Lok Adalat organised in the district on Saturday resolved 3,281 cases to give settlement amount of ₹11.41 crore to the aggrieved litigants. As per the direction from the Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority to organise National Lok Adalat across Tamil Nadu on Saturday, it was conducted by 23 Benches in 9 taluks of Tirunelveli and Tenkasi districts for settling motor accident cases, civil cases, cheque cases, bank loan cases etc. Accordingly, 3,281 cases were settled and the settlement amount of ₹11.41crore was given to the aggrieved litigants. Man sentenced to 10 years in jail for raping minor Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA Additional District and Sessions Judge, Fast Track Sessions Court 1, Savitri Venkataramana Bhat on Thursday sentenced Shashi Kumar (29) to 10 years imprisonment and imposed on him fine of ₹1.10 lakh after finding him guilty of sexually assaulting a minor girl. According to the charge-sheet filed by the Moodbidri Police, the minor girl was in the habit of going to the house of Shashi Kumar, her distant relative, to watch television. In November 2017, Shashi Kumar sexually assaulted her when nobody was in the house. The incident came to light when the girl’s parents took her to the Government Lady Goschen Hospital where doctors found that she was pregnant.
