Officials at a Tillsonburg hospital and Woodstock long-term care home are now facing two of the region’s first significant COVID-19 outbreaks during the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
And while health officials say vaccines are mitigating the impact, it’s still unknown how the inoculations will fare against the more aggressive COVID-19 variants that could become the norm.

Woodstock’s Caressant Care nursing home now has four residents and six staff infected in an outbreak declared April 29. Of the four residents, three have been totally asymptomatic while just one active COVID-19 case remains in the home, a spokesperson said Tuesday.
