Woman tries to steal $155K from victim’s bank account, police say

A 62-year-old woman from The Bronx twice on Friday tried to withdraw tens of thousands of dollars in another person’s name from a bank in Hanover Township, Northampton County, Colonial Regional police report in court papers.
Rachel Cruz was arraigned Friday night before District Judge Richard Yetter III on charges of forgery, theft by deception, identity theft and access device fraud, records show. She was housed in Northampton County Prison in lieu of $35,000 bail, records show.
Cruz went into the Wells Fargo Bank at 2750 Shoenersville Road and, using a withdrawal slip with details in someone else’s name, tried to take out $55,000, police said. She then returned to the bank and requested a cashier’s check for $100,000 made out to cash, police said.
Man wanted for assault in attempted $300 shakedown over minor car crash, cops say

Authorities were searching for a Carbon County man accused of demanding $300 following a minor car crash in Easton, and assaulting and threatening two people in the other car involved.
Easton police got a warrant Wednesday from District Judge Richard Yetter III for the arrest of Rodney Keith Rivers, 43, of the 300 block of East Bertsch Street in Lansford.
According to court records, police responded about 6 p.m. March 7 to Wilson Borough police headquarters for an assault report.
Two people, male and female, said they were in a minor car crash with a black Audi about 4 p.m. in a parking lot at 1441 Butler St. in the city, court records say.
