All Bank Branches To Be Covered Under Cheque Truncation System By September, Says RBI

In a letter written to heads of the bank, the Chief General Manager (CGM) of the Reserve Bank of India, RBI, has asked them to implement image-based cheque truncation system (CTS) across all bank branches by September.
This comes in accordance with the Statement on Development and Regulatory policy issued by RBI last month.
Currently, 1,50,000 branches of all banks have implemented the CTS system since its inception in 2010.
Till last September, all 1,219 pre-existing non-CTS clearing houses had successfully migrated to CTS system all over the country.

Sahakar Bharati leaders Satish Marathe and Uday Joshi met Nabard Chairman Dr Govinda Rajulu Chintala recently at his office and raised a host of issues related to the cooperative sector.
“Nabard Chairman Dr Chintalaji listened to our concerns very patiently and assured us to resolve the issues sooner than later. We had a very fruitful meeting. Besides, he was also very positive towards our demands”, Joshi said to Indian Cooperative correspondent soon after the meeting.
Talking about the issues raised during the meeting Joshi said, ” There is a need to empower State Co-operative banks & District Central Cooperative Banks. They should be allowed to raise Share Capital through Public & Pvt placements. Formulation of a merger policy for DCCBs into STCBs should also be crafter”, underlined Joshi.

Activist Anna Hazare has filed a petition in Mumbai sessions court against a closure report filed by the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police in the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank scam case.
In his petition, Anna Hazare has argued that he is the original complainant in this case and had filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in 2018.
District Central Cooperative Banks across Uttarakhand have disbursed interest free loans worth of Rs 150 crore to around 25k farmers associated with Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACCs).
The disbursement was done during the inauguration of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Sahakarita Kisan Kalyan Yojana by the State Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat last week from Dehradun. The program was streamed live at 100 locations where scores of farmers registered their participation. Under the scheme, farmers are getting interest free loans upto Rs 3 lakh.
On the occasion the respective DCCBs organized a function at several locations in which the local MP and others participated. Several DCCBs also handed over the cheque to the beneficiaries.
