City Council Issues Vote Of No Confidence For D.A. Gascón
The Santa Clarita City Council unanimously took a vote of no confidence for Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, as several City officials believe that his actions since being sworn “risk safety of the general public.”
The council unanimously agreed to issue a vote of no confidence for the new district attorney during their regular meeting Tuesday.
“What we need to do is do something to let (Gascón) know how passionately we feel,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Bill Miranda.
During their previous meeting on Feb. 23, the city council requested that time be set aside to discuss the nine special directives Gascón issued within his first hours in office.

The council is scheduled to discuss a vote of no confidence for the new district attorney during their regular meeting Tuesday.
“The City of Santa Clarita, California, values and places the highest priority on public safety and protecting its community,” the proposed no-confidence vote reads. “(The City) emphasizes supporting public safety policies to prevent and reduce criminal activity in its adopted 2021 Executive and Legislative Platform.”

BALDWIN PARK, Calif. - As part of his new reforms, District Attorney George Gascón has dropped gang enhancements and special circumstance allegations against a Baldwin Park gang member charged with murdering two young men at his home, then carjacking a vehicle to transport their bodies to the desert, where he dumped them.

(CN) A retired judge on Friday found that the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old last June by a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy was a homicide.
The death of Andres Guardado, which occurred less than a month after the killing of George Floyd, sparked protests across the county.
Retired Court of Appeals Justice Candace Cooper, through the county coroner’s office, published findings of the inquest into Guardado’s death on Friday, stating that the “manner of death was by the hands of another person other than by accident.”
An independent autopsy found that Guardado was shot in the back five times. Guardado was working as a security guard at an auto body shop in Gardena, California when he was approached by two officers on patrol.
