The boardâs next meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Massena Town Hall.
âThe Village Board of Trustees meetings, including the Village of Massena Zoning Board of Appeals and Village of Massena Planning Board, will also continue to offer attendance virtually, via Zoom, for those who wish to attend remotely,â Village Administrator Monique N. Chatland said in a news release.
Those who attend the in-person sessions will need to adhere to the current New York state guidelines of face masks, and appropriate social distancing will be required.
Ms. Chatland said village officials will continue to adjust requirements as state and federal guidelines are updated. Although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has lifted requirements for indoor mask wearing by those who are fully vaccinated, New York has not yet followed suit.
MASSENA â The Massena Town Council is moving forward with plans to apply for a $30,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, to bring potable water to some unserved areas.
âWe started conversations two years ago with Steve (OâShaughnessy, town supervisor) and Sam (Carbone, deputy town supervisor) about evaluating some potential water service areas in the eastern portion of the town,â Matthew Cooper, an associate from Barton & Loguidice D.P.C. told board members.
He said town officials had started some outreach with major stakeholders such the General Services Administration and New York Power Authority to âgauge their interest to see if it was worth taking the next step.â He said those conversations were favorable.
MASSENA â Town of Massena residents can now mark their calendars for the townâs annual spring cleanup.
Highway Superintendent Frank Diagostino told Massena Town Council members on Wednesday that the event is scheduled for May 3 to 29 at the Massena Transfer Station on state Route 420.
He said the procedure would be the same as last year. Town residents who live outside the village of Massena will receive vouchers, as well as a pamphlet that lists what can be accepted and what will not be accepted.
âItâs kind of an educational thing,â Mr. Diagostino said.
Vouchers are available starting Monday by calling the town hall, 315-769-3588, ext. 2, or by emailing tpryce@massena.us. They can also be obtained by visiting the town hall. Individuals must show proof of residency in the town to receive the vouchers.
MASSENA â The St. Lawrence County Planning Board has signed off on a special use permit and site plan for a proposed greenhouse on County Route 42 in Massena, but with some stipulations.
Confluent Energies, Inc. plans to construct the greenhouse on two currently vacant pieces of property owned by Arconic on County Route 42.
St. Lawrence County Planner II Dakota B. Casserly told the Planning Board Thursday night that the project will be done in two phases.
