Biting cold conditions prevailed in the national capital this morning as the minimum temperature dropped to 3.9 degrees Celsius, the lowest this season so far. The Safdarjung Observatory, which provides representative data for the city, recorded a low of 3.9 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal. The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 21 degrees Celsius, an IMD official said.
The mercury dipped to 3.3 degrees Celsius and 3.4 degrees Celsius at Lodhi Road and Ayanagar, respectively, as icy winds from snow-laden Western Himalayas continued to sweep the city, the India Meteorological Department said.

According to the Meteorological department cold and dry weather is expected tomorrow (Friday) in most parts of the country, while very cold weather is expected in north Balochistan and upper parts of the country.
However, Fog is likely to prevail in plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning and night hours. While, frost likely to occur in Potohar region including few plain areas of Punjab during morning hours.

A cold wave has gripped large swathes of North India including Delhi. The minimum temperature recorded in Delhi-NCR today was 3.5 degrees Celsius. The cold wave condition prevailing for the last three days will continue till Friday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. The severe cold conditions are likely in some pockets in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana and Chandigarh in the next 24 hours. A cold wave in Delhi has been declared as icy winds blowing from the snow-covered western Himalayas brought the minimum temperature down sharply.
