New Paltz Baker Competing for ‘The Greatest Baker’ Title
When Emily Eckberg relocated to the area with her husband, she thought she would take her love for baking to the next level and apply to work at a bakery. After getting some hands on experience at a prep-person at Mother s Earth in Kingston, she decided to continue her passion from home while also being a stay at home mom to her daughter. Shortly after beginning her at-home baking business, Emily was discovered by the owners of Black Creek Bed and Breakfast in Highland, who soon after hired her to be their baker, and the rest, as they say, is history!
Shannon s story: Everyone has heard my sister talk about her trials and tribulations, but Iâve never spoken publicly about my side of the story. How I get to travel the world baking for other families, sometimes even celebrities, but what itâs like to get those phone calls from your mother that your sister is being rushed into surgery, or that your sister is getting transfusions because she has lost a lot of blood. No one has heard from my side of the story what it is like to hold my sisterâs hand as we try to teach her how to walk again, or having to bathe her because she cannot bathe herself.
