Eighteen photographs of Selena Quintanilla-Perez have been acquired by the Smithsonian s National Museum of American History. The Washington, D.C.-based institution announced the news on April 16, what would have been the singer s 50th birthday.
The photos, all of which were shot by San Antonio photographer Al Rendon, depict Selena is concert - including a classic shot in her trademark leather jacket - as well as headshots and candids of her interacting with fans. The images are now part the museum s Photographic History Collection, and join additional Selena photographs donated by Rendon in 2015.
