College Sports: Mitts introduced as Cottey s new AD and hoops coach (2/6/21)

Saturday, February 6, 2021 Hank Layton Dr. Maryann Mitts used to have two homes: one in Kansas City, where she attended high school and college and where her 94-year-old mother still lives today, and the other in Joplin, where she was the winningest coach in the history of Missouri Southern State University women s basketball. Now, she has a third. “Traveling on the highway, I have passed Nevada quite a bit, but I had never been in the town,” Mitts said after her introductory press conference as the new athletic director and head hoops coach at Cottey College Friday morning. “Back when I coached at Southern, Nevada High School came to all of our camps, so I was very familiar with the high school. As I have been driving around, I have been excited about being in a smaller town and being able to build those relationships.”
