BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Nearly $70 million has been approved for two restoration projects on the Mississippi Gulf Coast that will help improve water quality and enhance the coastal habitat for fish and wildlife.
Gov. Reeves announced Wednesday that the RESTORE Council approved a plan that includes the two restoration projects for Mississippi, as well as five additional projects in the Gulf of Mexico that will also benefit the coast.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - The roadway has been reopened and the scene cleared after a gas spill near the Hattiesburg Walmart on U.S. Highway 98 caused traffic problems in the area Thursday afternoon.
Hattiesburg police said Cross Creek Parkway, the entrance to Walmart and Sam’s Club, was closed to traffic following the spill.
We’re told about 100 gallons of fuel were spilled from a tanker truck that was filling tanks at the Sam’s Club filling station.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Districts across the state will soon be able to purchase cleaner-burning school buses, thanks to a grant from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.
MDEQ recently announced that it had awarded $354,700 to 15 school districts to apply to the purchase of new school buses with “more stringent pollution controls.”
“Not only will the students benefit from a cleaner school bus, but the environment will as well,” said Chris Wells, MDEQ Executive Director.
