Dana Churchill, 44, is facing auto burglary charges for allegedly breaking into a vehicle at Baptist Memorial Hospital and stealing several Christmas gifts. Police arrested Churchill on Jan. 22 and returned the stolen items. A Lafayette County Justice Court judge set Churchill’s bond at $10,000. However, the Mississippi Department of Corrections placed a hold on her.

Lee County deputies responded on Jan. 25 to a report of a shooting on County Road 1409. Deputies found the victim suffering from head trauma and what they believed was a gunshot wound. According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, investigators determined two people got into an argument and one person pulled a gun and shot into the second person’s vehicle.

The Constitution says that you can only have your rights restored by the Legislature or by a pardon from the Governor. Sounds simple

Shooting leads to assault charge

TUPELO •  An investigation into a possible shots fired call ended with a man charged with assaulting a Lee County deputy. According to Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson, deputies responded to County Road 1728 around 5:30 p.m. Monday evening. The responding deputies found one male with trauma to the head that was believed to be a gunshot wound. He was transported to the North Mississippi Medical Center for treatment. The investigation revealed two men had gotten into an argument. During the altercation, one man pulled out a gun and fired it into the victim s vehicle. The suspect then attacked the victim and beat him with the pistol, causing trauma to his head, Johnson said. Deputies then found the suspect down the road at his residence where this occurred and during the struggle to apprehend the suspect, he assaulted an officer.
