BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (WLOX) - On Thursday, Gov. Tate Reeves announced that he has appointed a Gulf Coast district attorney that will fill a vacancy on the court of appeals, along with a new prosecutor.
The governor appointed District Attorney Joel Smith to the Mississippi Court of Appeals. For the past nine year, Smith has served as district attorney for Hancock, Harrison and Stone counties. Smith will take the position that was previously held by Sean Tindell, who left the court to become Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Lawmakers hope to introduce a bill by Monday that could help short-staffed cities quell street racing and other dangerous activities along the interstate.
District 25 Sen. Walter Michel and District 29 Sen. David Blount are working on a measure that would give the Mississippi Highway Patrol the authority to patrol interstate corridors in Jackson, Biloxi and other larger municipalities.

JACKSON, Miss. (WDAM) - Multiple suspects are in custody following the Mississippi Department of Public Safety and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation released Mississippiâs Most Wanted List.
On Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, Mississippi Crime Stoppers received tips from the public about Allan D. Henderson. MBI and the U.S. Marshal Service Task Force was able to arrest Henderson in the Jackson area.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Local law enforcement is on high alert Tuesday after the FBI warned them armed protestors could be headed to our State Capitol.
That warning comes just days after violence erupted at our nation’s Capitol last week. The threat of violent protestors coming here to the Mississippi Capitol is not being taken lightly by local law enforcement.
They are all in communication, formulating a plan to stop what happened in Washington from happening here.

Commissioner Sean Tindell made the announcement this morning.
This list is compiled by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation in conjunction with law enforcement agencies throughout the state and includes ten of Mississippi’s most wanted fugitives.
The list is available at www.dps.ms.gov/ms-most-wanted and on the Mississippi Department of Public Safety’s social media platforms.
Tindell says the people on the list are a threat to Mississippians and he hopes the community will help locate them.
