While Michigan officials repealed the state s mask mandate for fully vaccinated people, businesses, libraries and other institutions can decide their own policies.
Many businesses in Livingston County are still asking all customers to wear masks indoors. And that is turning out to be a struggle for some.
Tristan Spindler said customers yelled, swore and spit at her Saturday when she was working at Screams Souvenirs in Hell.
Spindler said they were angry the store has not changed its mask policy. We re under a lot of pressure. I try to be forgiving and take deep breaths, and I know it s not personal, but it s been rough, she said.

No Mask Change For High School Athletics Yet
But, that doesn t yet apply to High School Athletics.
No word has come to high school athletes yet tho. The Michigan High School Athletic Association says they won t decide until they hear back from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services
“We are awaiting word on what will change,” Geoff Kimmerly, MHSAA communications director said in a text to MLive. “We don’t have the changes at this time.”
Until word changes from the MHSAA, all athletes are still required to wear a mask while competing or in practice. They are not required in events such as warm-ups or competitions according to MLive. Most spring events will be outdoors, so maskless games could be a possibility this season.
