The drug is used primarily by Type 1 diabetics but can also be used by a small number of Type 2 diabetics, depending on their condition. Type 1 is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. As a result, those with Type 1 need to take insulin, a life-saving drug that regulates blood sugar levels to keep people alive. Despite the need for overall quality of life and health, insulin is often considered the poster child for price gouging.
