Volunteers To Remove Invasive Plants At Grand Mere State Park

July 5, 2021 Volunteers are invited to come out to Grand Mere State Park next week to help remove invasive plants. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says they will hand pull spotted knapweed from the open areas allowing native flora to grow and thrive. The invasive plant is a threat to those native plants. Volunteers are told to wear long sleeves and long pants. They will be working in the sun so they’re also asked to bring a hat and plenty of water. Since it is Grand Mere State Park, wearing insect repellant is highly advised. Those who want to sign up can do so by email and we have the address at WSJM.com. The volunteers will be out from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 10 and meet at the small parking area at Willow and Rosemary Drive.
