The areas of possible concern were evacuated immediately and an initial search was conducted.
Reed City police were assisted by the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post in conducting a K-9 search.
No items of concern were located. Through an investigation, police determined the incident was a student’s attempt at humor.
The matter is still under investigation and will be turned over to the prosecuting attorney’s office for review and possible charges in probate court.
Michigan State Police are searching for a Wisconsin man who allegedly rammed a patrol car, sending a trooper to the hospital. It happened Wednesday, near Cadillac.
Jordan Lee Cook, 22, of Lansing was charged with carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, assault with a dangerous weapon and operating under the influence after incident which occurred in Benzie County at 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 5.
Man, 36, accused of ‘inappropriate relationship’ with child, charged with sex crime

WEXFORD COUNTY, MI – A 36-year-old man is charged with two crimes related to an alleged “inappropriate relationship” with a child between the ages of 13 and 15.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post began investigating in October after the victim’s parent reported the alleged inappropriate relationship with a then-35-year-old man, according to a MSP news release. Police obtained warrants and searched the victim’s and suspect’s phones.
Christopher Michael Woodbury, 36, of Boon, was arrested on Dec. 23, police said. On Dec. 28, he was arraigned on charges of accosting a child for immoral purposes and fourth degree criminal sexual conduct. He was given a $25,000 cash/surety bond and remains lodged at the Wexford County Jail. Woodbury’s next court appearance is set for 2 p.m. on Jan. 12 in the 84th District Court of Wexford County.
