KENT COUNTY, MI One person has been hospitalized and another is in custody following a shooting early Sunday in the Rockford area.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Mercury Drive NE in Algoma Township at 6:28 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 28, Kent County Sheriff’s Sgt. Joy Matthews told MLive.
The victim, identified by police as 31-year-old Anthony White, of Rockford, is listed in critical condition at a local hospital.
BRONSON, MI (WTVB) â The case of a man who is accused of threatening his former girlfriend and her current boyfriend with a knife in late December was bound over to Branch County Circuit Court on Tuesday following a preliminary examination in District Court.
31-year-old Aundra Smolek is charged with two counts of unlawful imprisonment, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and a count of domestic violence.
He was arrested following the alleged incident in the suspectâs Gilead Township residence on Stoney Point Drive.
The former girlfriend texted her mother at one point and said she was not able to willingly leave the house.

MULLETT TOWNSHIP A 55-year-old Indian River man was killed and a 53-year-old Cheboygan woman was seriously injured in a snowmobile crash in Mullett Township Tuesday night.
Cheboygan County Sheriff Dale Clarmont said deputies were dispatched to the snowmobile crash at 9:38 p.m. Dec. 15. The crash happened on The Trail Road, near Blessed Lane and East Numbers Road in Mullett Township, just outside of Topinabee.
That investigation revealed 55-year-old Steven Carl Johnson of Indian River had been operating the 1996 Polaris Indy 500 snowmobile southbound on The Trail Road when he lost control. This caused the snowmobile to veer off the roadway and strike a tree.
